General Information

Significant Elements

In 1991, Historic Ithaca opened Significant Elements in an old tobacco barn on the outskirts of Ithaca, with the slogan “Recycling at its Best!”

Over the past 30 years, Significant Elements has grown into a full-fledged non-profit architectural salvage store, now located in an 1880s warehouse on Center Street in Ithaca’s Southside neighborhood. Significant Elements is the go-to community and regional resource for building renovation, restoration, and DIY inspiration.

Our 3-story warehouse has over 10,000 square feet of quality reclaimed building materials, specializing in antique hardware, vintage lighting, plumbing, lumber, doors and windows, from the early 1800s to today. Plus, an ever-changing eclectic array of antiques, furniture and vintage decor.

Significant Elements’ unique inventory is donated by community members, contractors, businesses and institutions. The Significant Elements team also sources interesting, useful and hard-to-find reclaimed architectural elements from across Central New York.

DONATE:
Significant Elements’ unique inventory is donated by community members, contractors, businesses and institutions. Proceeds from the sale of donated items support all of Historic Ithaca’s programs, from historic preservation advocacy and education to job training for young adults.
